This is a project by the Witzend Puzzle Collective, a group of 15 puzzle designers/makers from around the world, who have come together to create a set of ‘Wonderland’ puzzles all themed around the Alice stories by Lewis Carroll.
Jabberwocky consists of nine smaller puzzle boxes that are no larger that 75mm (3”) cubes and four larger puzzle boxes that are approx. 100mm x 100mm x 75mm (4” x 4” x 3”), all of these are housed inside the Jabberwocky chest, which is itself a puzzle box, secured by a puzzle lock.
The objective is to figure out how to open the chest, then how to access the internal puzzles, solve all thirteen puzzle boxes and the puzzle lock in order to release a master crafted ‘Vorpal Sword’, which is the only weapon with which you can vanquish the Jabberwocky.
A book is also hidden inside the chest (but should be one of the first things a solver finds), this book is covered in ‘real’ Jabberwocky hide and contains details about the project, the two Alice stories by Lewis Carroll and a full set of instructions on how to solve Jabberwocky and the associated puzzles it contains, but these instructions are secured and tied down at the back of the book, so you can’t accidentally look at them.
Steve Miller occasionally posts videos and other information about the progress of the project on Facebook at Witzend Puzzle Collective.
Fifteen complete sets (plus an undisclosed small number of extras) are being made, one for each of the 15 puzzle designers/makers involved, with the extras being sold to cover the project costs (we are not expecting to make a profit, but breaking even would be nice).
The extras are expected to sell for at least £10,000 each, if you would be prepared to bid at this level, send an e-mail with the subject line of ‘Jabberwocky’ to moC.s1553043141elzzu1553043141PoryP1553043141@tcat1553043141noC1553043141 and you will be informed about the sales process for the chests once they project has been completed.
